This unit builds on undergraduate human physiology and biochemistry to develop an understanding of the pathophysiology of diseases, with a focus on those having nutrition etiological links and requiring medical nutrition therapy for management. Students will examine real world case studies to ascertain the origin, nature and cause of the disease using a systems approach and will cover the principles of introductory medical nutrition theory as applies to selected systems.
